Conifer High School

Peer Counseling Program

Who are we?

The Peer Counselors staff an office in the CHS Counseling Office for anyone to come in and talk, seek guidance or set up an appointment for later. Peer Counselors undergo extensive training in a variety of skills, and act as a resource and support for numerous high school issues.  Our program is aimed at assisting students in having the best possible experience they can, while attending Conifer High School.

What do we do?

The Peer Counseling Program takes on a range of responsibilities within the school:

  • Confidential one-on-one counseling
  • Peer conflict mediation
  • Birthday celebration bags for all students
  • Welcoming new students with tours, information and follow-up
  • Providing “Did you Know” educational campaigns & presentations
  • Organizing and facilitating school-wide “Diversity Day” & “Day Without Hate”
  • Lead and organize student led GSA (Gay Straight Alliance)
  • Support students academically and socially
  • Quote campaign throughout the school

We offer support including, but not limited to issues such as:

  • Stress
  • Healthy & unhealthy relationships and friendships
  • Family issues
  • Emotional concerns
  • Substance abuse
  • Bullying
  • Peer pressure
  • Conflict resolution

 How do I get connected?

Stop by the counseling office anytime during school hours and see if one of us is available.  If we are already meeting with someone or unavailable, then schedule a specific time to come in and meet with any of our amazing Peer Counselors! Their Bio's are posted outside the Counseling Center.

* If you have ANY concerns about a friend, classmate or peer – feel free to notify someone in the Peer Counseling office or bring that person in to receive support!
