Senior College Timelines


· Attend the Senior Interview with your counselor in Sept. or Oct. of senior year.
· Attend In-State and Out-of-State College Fairs.
· If necessary, re-register for ACT and/or SAT Reasoning Test.
· Obtain college applications – most, if not all, applications are available online.
· The Common Application form is available at
· Start applying to colleges. Check applications for deadlines. Applications will include:
    Transcript Request Form (purple form) with $3.00 fee
    Official transcript
    ACT/SAT test scores
    Secondary School Report (if applicable)
    Conifer High School Profile (if needed)
    Official envelope for applications and scholarships
    Any additional materials that need to be mailed at a later date
    Mid-Year Reports and/or transcripts (if needed)
    Final Transcript mailed at the end of the year to college you plan to attend
    Completed college application (except for counselor’s portion) with all fees.

Your personal essay and /or resume, as needed.

Make copies for your records (recommendations, applications, essays, etc.).
It is critical that you take into consideration that the counselors work on a lot of college applications. They MUST have a minimum of 2 weeks to process each application, so please, be aware of your deadlines.


- Attend the Denver Metro Area College Information Workshop and Fair at Cherry Creek High    School.
· Meet with college representatives who visit Conifer High School.
· Attend Out-of-State College Night at Thomas Jefferson High School.
-· Give consideration to your college essay.
If recommendation letters are needed, give your information sheets to your teachers, counselors, supervisors, coaches, etc. Give the letter writer at least two weeks to complete your letter.
· Finalize college choices.
· Continue college application process.
· Register for SAT II Subject Tests, if the colleges you are applying to require them.
· Start exploring possibilities of financial aid and scholarships.


· All applications that need to be mailed before Winter Break must be submitted to the Counseling Office before Thanksgiving.
· Continue to explore scholarship opportunities in the Post Grad Center. A list of scholarships is updated regularly in the Scholarship Book in the Post Grad. Center in the counseling office.


· See your counselor for a final check of courses and credits.
· Continue researching and applying for scholarships.
· Enjoy the Winter Break.


· Fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible after January 1st. This form is available online at  - Continue to apply for scholarships.
· Attend Conifer High School’s Financial Aid Night.


· Remember that your grades matter – colleges do take back acceptances.
· Make final college choice.
· Students are required to confirm acceptance by May 1 to the college of their choice.
· Send in the deposit.
· Register, pay for, and take Advanced Placement Tests.
· Tell your counselor all of the schools to which you have been admitted, waitlisted, or denied.
· Bring all scholarships and awards to your counselor for inclusion in Senior Awards.
